Your October Skywatch
•October 5, 2009 • Leave a CommentI just got around to reading and sharing this months predictions… most relevent for me currently:
We will get a few days of relief from this painstaking process in the first few days of October beginning on October 1 when Mercury (mental functions and transmission of information) forms a harmonious sextile to Mars which continues over the next few days leading up to the Aries Full Moon on the 4th. This Mercury/Mars dance will light the spark of creative juices and inspirational forces, ready to be unleashed at the Full Moon..
The Full Moon on the 4th is in the sign of Aries, with the Sun in Libra. At the Full Moon the Sun and the Moon are opposite each other in the sky, appearing to be of equal size through the miracle of the mystery of planetary science. Normally the Sun’s quality of consciousness and ego overcomes the light of the Moon and subsumes the instinctive emotions, but at the Full Moon the Earth blocks that light and the Moon is revealed in her full glory. Full Moons are times to allow the truth of our inner selves to shine as the Ego takes a back seat for once.
The Aries Full Moon brings the power of fire in its purest form into our consciousness for the few days, as Aries is the sign of courage, self-defense, inspiration, leadership, and dominance. Even the least fiery of us will have access during this Full Moon to the bravery and assertiveness that Aries inspires. That fire energy is made more powerful by the fact that Mercury (the mind) is in harmony with Mars (the ruler of Aries and planet of courage) and opposite Uranus (radical new ideas and change). The mind is extremely active now, ready and willing to take in new data and new information to help inspire change. If you have been feeling blocked and unable to take action, this is your opportunity to break through those barriers. Mars is in a harmonious trine with Uranus, liberating (Uranus) us from any restrictions that keep us from activating our deepest desires (Mars).
Still, Ceres forms a square to the lunar nodes which represent our evolutionary direction, suggesting that we are not attending to the matters of caring for body and soul in a way that is sufficient for our soul’s growth. The Full Moon will illuminate any area in our life where this has potential for future problems.
After the Full Moon things settle down for a couple of days, and on the 8th when Mercury conjuncts Saturn we get back down to business. This is a reality check that helps to stabilize us and get our feet back on the ground. It is tempting with a Mercury/Saturn combination to feel some negativity or depression as we feel ourselves being pulled back to earth, but this is all a matter of attitude. Recognizing the need for periods of retraction helps to keep us from allowing frustration to control our experience
“Asking” by Dan Fante

I caught a little of the Dan Fante’s interview with Terri Gross today on NPR and was struck by this poem he read on the air:
Asking
For years I thought that
talking to the Gods
was an exercise
done privately
under
unforgivingdistant stars
ridiculous unrequited prayer
done by staring
at old cold books
with mean small printBut then I discovered
that just
ain’t
it at allGod can be found in the “thank-you” voice of a guy
at the counter at the 7-11
or
the quietness of a stranger’s parking-lot smile
or the rattle of weeds across a dry summer Mohave
or
watching my unfettered fingers jump jump jumping
across the computer keys
deep in the middle of typing three hours worth of unscrubbed truthGod – for me – turned out to be
a conscious choice
a self-evoked experiencejust
like
love

I realize that this post is a bit beyond my comfort zone, but I can’t shake this gnawing feeling in the pit of my stomach that a true economic correction is still on its way. Zero Hedge had an amazing article a few months ago that just seemed to ring true to me about how to manage your money in near future and I think it’s well worth the read. Appropriately titled “Putting it all Together: Managing Money as you Peer into the Abyss”, Eiad Asbahi has offered the clearest suggestions for saving your savings that I have yet come across. Michigan isn’t the only state facing record budget deficits (we have just had them longer and worse) and I can not imagine how the economy doesn’t take another hard hit once the reality of the upcoming cuts truly kicks in. As Margo Channing would say, buckle your seat belts kids, we are in for a bumpy ride!!!
P.S. Um… if you take investing advice from me than you are dumb. Do your homework, talk to your advisor, play devils advocate, and then go with your gut.
